Confirmation 2012

Confirmation class will be offered from 12:15-2:00 p.m. on the Sundays listed below: These classes are open to all those in Grade 8. A meal will be provided.

2012 Confirmation Schedule:
8-week Presbyterian Confirmation curriculum

12:10-12:15 p.m.: Teachers gather in Student Lounge
                              to Pray for Confirmation Class
12:15-12:45 p.m.: Lunch in the Fellowship Hall
12:45-12:50 p.m.: Students gather in room 305 for Confirmation class
12:50-2:00 p.m.: Confirmation Class

February 5 (Confirmation begins)
*Parents join Confirmation class for Lunch to meet the teachers.
Session 1: You Are What You Wear
Main Idea: Your Baptism marks your entrance into the family of God.
Teaching: Craig Young

February 12
Session 2: How Do You Spell Presbyterian?
Main Idea: The Church is called to God's purposes & organizes itself to fulfill those purposes.
Teaching: Randy Madsen
February 19 (No Confirmation due to President's Day Weekend)

February 26
Session 3: Where Is God When It Hurts?
Main Idea: God governs, supports, and redeems creation, so that nothing in our lives is ever wasted.
Teaching: Jason Streubel

March 4
Session 4: Can You Hear Me Now?
Main Idea: Prayer involves both addressing God and listening for God's word within our hearts.
Focus: The Lord's Prayer serves as a model for praying.

March 11
Session 5: Extravagant Love
Main Idea: There is no Savior like Jesus and no salvation like the one Jesus offers.

*March 18
No Confirmation class due to Springfield Public School Spring Break 21-25

March 25
Session 6: We've Got the Spirit!
Main Idea: The Holy Spirit makes Jesus as present to us as his physical presence was to the disciples.

April 1
Session 7: Going Out!
Main Idea: Being an instrument to fulfill God's Purpose and Living out our Faith.
Focus: Local Mission Project selected by Confirmation class.

April 8
No Confirmation Due to Easter Holiday

April 15
Session 8: Grace and Gratitude
Main Idea: We obey law out of gratitude, confident that God gives us the grace to grow in love & knowledge daily.
Focus: Communion
Teaching: Randy Madsen

April 22
Confirmation class meets with Session @ 12:15 p.m.

April 29
Confirmation students presented in the Contemporary service
*Confirmation Reception @ 10:30 in the North Atrium.
