INVITATION TO MEMBERSHIP

First & Calvary Presbyterian Church invites you to commit your life to the Lord Jesus Christ in Christian Discipleship and to become a member of this fellowship. The Session normally receives new members three times per year. Several opportunities for Christian growth are offered to new members before and after uniting with the Church.  You may do this by meeting with the Session (elders and pastors) to express your faith in Christ in one of the following ways:

By Profession of Faith
This means you receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and sincerely promise to live for Him. Previous baptism is accounted valid or the Sacrament of Baptism may be administered.

By Transfer of Membership
Request the pastor to write your former church for a certificate or "letter" of transer.

By Reaffirmation of Faith
You have been long inactive or separated from the church for some time.

We invite you to our new member classes or Inquirers Classes, held in room 021, to find out about becoming a member of the church of Jesus Christ. During the morning reception time, on the last Sunday of the Inquirers Class, Session will receive new members through Profession of Faith, Reaffirmation of Faith, transfer of Letter or Affiliate Membership. During the "Public Welcome" at either of the traditional or contemporary Sunday morning worship services, new membes will then be publicaly welcomed and will receive the Sacrament of Christian Baptism if they have not been baptized.

INQUIRERS CLASSES FOR 2010

We will be having three Inquirers Classes this year and are led byour pastors, church members and other first & Calvary staff members. Each class will meet weekly for four weeks beginning at 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Sunday  mornings during the Church School hour. Coffee will be available in the room starting at 9:30 a.m. and we hope you'll come a few minutes early so we can get to know you. Children are invited to participate in church school class for their age. Our church nursery is available for infants through two-year old children from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Winter Class - February 7, 12, 21, and 28
Spring Class - April 18 and 25, May 2 and 9
Fall Class - October 3, 10, 17 24

The classes will follow the following format:
Week 1 - Welcome Brunch, Faith Formation & Church Tour
Week 2 - Worship, Sacraments, & Membership Questions
Week 3 - Who Are Presbyterians?
Week 4 - Reception of members - Lunch included
